Danny Rodas lives in Pasadena, Ca and is an active member of the L.A.
experimental music scene. "Under The Stars" is a dance record
influenced by varied styles such as Jamaican Dub Reggae, Hip Hop and UK
Electronica. The music thematically explores the universe and its
natural cycles but leaves it to the individual to discover and explore
its various meanings. Released on June 8, 2009 on the Villa Studios
label and available for download at iTunes, Amazon, and online music
stores.
2005 saw the release of Danny's first CD titled "What's New" which
introduced an experimental style of songwriting largely based on
improvisation. The music is a tug of war between old and new and what
is considered beautiful. In 2007, Danny performed and recorded as an
experimental guitar duo with Philip Graulty which was then followed by
the release of "Self-Portrait (2007)". The music is a collection of
acoustic guitar based songs with Dub production influences that was
intentionally created without drums or a constant driving beat. The
effect allows the listener to pay more attention to the words being
sung, much like listening to a folk-singer on guitar.
Received a B.A. degree in Music from Cal Poly Pomona
in 2002. At Poly, studied guitar with Mathew Elgart and Peter Yates as
well as composition with Stanley Gibb, David Kopplin, and Peter Yates.
Danny on his music: "Modern music, just like all
popular musical styles before it, will eventually evolve and be
replaced by a new style. I grew up loving the amazing and revolutionary
sounds of Rock and Roll, but know that it's time for something new.
Influenced by different types of music from all over the world, I'm
pushing to break free from the limitations imposed by traditional songs
to create a style that is both interesting and challenging to me as an
artist. It might not be the complete break into something new, but it
definitely is a conscious step towards the unknown. This is my
music...based in history, but restless for the future."
